Our Story
The Golden Sands Baptist Church was established in Papamoa East in 2018 as new church plant with the help of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Over the last seven years the church has grown and in June 2023 moved into its own purpose-built church and community centre in the Golden Sands suburb. Part of the church’s vision in building its new facilities is to serve the wider community as an expression of the Christian gospel, with a particular emphasis upon serving and empowering people who are struggling with varying aspects of day to day living.
As a community service initiative of Golden Sands Baptist Church (GSB), run with the assistance of its Golden Sands Community Trust, GSB Money Coaching is led by Mrs. Sylvia Bowden, a member of GSB and uniquely qualified and experienced for this work. In addition to having run CAP Money courses for over ten years, Sylvia has a Certificate in Adult Teaching and Training, a Diploma of Counselling, has worked as an independent contractor for Te Ara Ahunga Retirement Commission, and is the author of three books on financial management—especially for children and families. We have other trained CAP Money Coaches too.
